Lecturer in Technology Teacher Education

Dr. Diarmaid Lane is a Lecturer in Technology Teacher Education at University of Limerick and Course Director for the PME in Technological Education.  He is the recipient of numerous local, regional and national awards for Teaching Excellence. Dr. Lane has been awarded a number of prestigious grants to support his research in the STEM discipline including: a Google Educator Award which is examining the role of Computational Thinking across STEM, National Forum funding which is examining Spatial Skills development across STEM in Higher Education, and a Teaching Council Award that is examining the development of Creative Problem-Solving Skills in secondary school STEM subjects.

 

Diarmaid is widely recognised as an international expert in his field.  He has received multiple awards for his excellence in research and his publication profile includes numerous high-ranking ISI publications, invited book chapters, and numerous prestigious conference publications.  Dr. Lane has significant international experience from his work as Director of Membership for the Engineering Design Graphics Division (EDGD) of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and he has successfully delivered two prestigious international conferences in his field as Programme Chair.  He is a reviewer for the International Journal of Technology and Design Education. Dr. Lane is currently working with Dr. Geraldine Mooney-Simmie (Interim Director of EPI*STEM) where they are examining concepts of Teaching Excellence in Higher Education.
