Samantha Prior

Samantha Prior is currently undertaking postgraduate research in the area of Leading Change in Times of Reform, with a particular focus on a critical examination of school leadership during Ireland’s Senior Cycle Redevelopment in science education. Her research explores how school leaders navigate reform, support teachers, and implement sustainable change within evolving educational landscapes.

She holds an undergraduate degree in Science Education, specialising in Biology and Chemistry, and a Master of Science. Her Master’s research, titled ‘Development of an Intervention Programme to Increase Students’ Interest in Science in DEIS Schools’, focused on designing and evaluating strategies to enhance student engagement and participation in science, particularly in disadvantaged contexts. This work highlights her strong commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for all learners.

Samantha’s work sits at the intersection of leadership, policy, and classroom practice. She is particularly interested in how meaningful reform can be enacted in schools in ways that support both teachers and students, ensuring equitable access to high quality science education.
