OIDE Chemistry – Laboratory Day of Mandatory Experiments 2025

The EPI•STEM National Centre for STEM Education, in collaboration with the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Limerick, hosted the 2025 Oide Chemistry Laboratory Day of Mandatory Experiments on Saturday, March 29th. This interactive, in-person workshop welcomed 26 second-level science teachers from across the Mid-West and Midlands regions.

Designed to support the teaching of Leaving Certificate Chemistry, the workshop emphasised practical, research-informed strategies for conducting mandatory experiments in the classroom. Participants engaged in a series of hands-on activities that aimed to enhance both subject knowledge and pedagogical practice, empowering teachers to better engage students and foster deeper scientific understanding.
