Biography
I am currently completing my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Sibel Erduran, Dr. Anne O’Dwyer and Dr. JJ Leahy. I completed my undergraduate degree, BSc. (Education) with Chemistry and Biology in 2014 and soon after graduating, I began my postgraduate research in September 2014.
My PhD research is focused on the advancement of the teaching and learning approach that is employed throughout tertiary-level education, in particular in first year, undergraduate General Chemistry Modules. This will involve the evidence-based development of pedagogical interventions that will aim to improve the learning outcomes and experiences of two student cohorts; firstly, undergraduate students enrolled in General Chemistry and secondly, Postgraduate students who fulfill the role of Laboratory Demonstrator for its associated experiments.
In order to help me to achieve this, a collaboration with Lappan-Phillips Prof. Melanie M Cooper at Michigan State University and her chemical education research group, the Cooper Research Group has been established. The work of this group is dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of chemistry at undergraduate level.
